Principal's Message

Welcome to Richmond School, where we have Heart!

I am the newly appointed principal of Richmond school. I have over 25 years’ experience with the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge around personalized learning for students. I was a proud teacher for sixteen years.  During this time I taught Grades 1 to 9, and then transitioned to a CBE specialist position for five years in the area of learning, innovation and technology.  The last four years I worked as an assistant principal at Citadel Park School which is a K-4 setting, and Olympic Heights School which is a K-6 setting.

I was awarded a Bachelor of Education (elementary generalist) and a Master’s in Education with a specialization in educational technology.

I am passionate about leadership, positive relationships, continuous improvement, connected and authentic learning, and inclusive learning environments. I believe strongly in supporting teachers so that all children with and without disabilities can participate, feel successful and learn together in the same environments.

I believe strongly that all children come to school with potential, curiosity, and interest in engaging in social interaction, establishing relationships, constructing their learning and negotiating with everything the environment brings to them. I believe that teachers must be deeply aware of each child’s potential and construct all their work and the environment of the children’s experience to respond appropriately. At the centre of our work together is the principle that each child is naturally curious, wondrous about learning, filled with potential, possesses many talents, skills and abilities and sees joy in all things possible.

Accountability to you, as parents of students in our school system, is critically important to me. I extend an invitation to all parents of Richmond School to attend School Council meetings.  Please check our school calendar for dates and times for these special meetings.

I am truly thrilled to be a part of the Richmond School community. I sincerely look forward to having the opportunity to connect with Richmond parents in the coming months and to discuss our shared vision for your child’s learning together.
