hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and were able to spend some time with family and friends.
Teachers Convention is always an exciting time to re-connect with peers as well as engage in our own professional learning. Speaking on behalf of teachers, it is always nice to learn something new that can be implemented into our teaching repertoire to ensure quality instruction for your children.
Having time with our own families on Family Day is also a blessing that we too enjoy.
Thank you to the many families that attended our first Family Dance. It was a resounding success and brings us one step closer to acquiring our school playground. Many thanks go to the parent association for their continued efforts in making the school playground a reality.
The week ahead brings a continuation of felt projects for many of our grade 1 / 2 classes. The students are continuing the work on understanding the land around us and are able to describe what the prairie looks like to them through the process of wet felt. We look forward to sharing the finished products with you at their Sharing Night.
The grade 1 / 2 classes will have their 2nd Sharing Night of the year on Thursday February 23 from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. The purpose of this time is to have you come see and experience what the children have been learning. Students come to school every day and work through the curriculum making sense of their world around them. The grade 1 / 2 students have been focusing on understanding connections between ourselves and the land. There will be a variety of things to see, both in process as well as finished products. There may also be some activities the children would like you to experience with them.
The Sharing Nights are a time to be one to one with your child, to be able to sit down and share their learning with them. If at all possible, please come prepared to give one hundred percent of your time to your child without any distractions from siblings. Sharing Nights are also time to be with your child, the teachers will not be discussing academics with you. If you have specific questions, please make an appointment with the teacher for a later time.
This is a short week, with only three and a half school days. We look forward to seeing everyone’s faces again on Tuesday February 21, at 8:00 AM.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact me and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Take care and enjoy Family Day.
