Administrator's Message | December

It’s December 1st and you can already feel the anticipation of the holidays! It’s a joy listening to the students’ voices as they practice for our upcoming Christmas Concert: Celebrations Around the World. The school is starting to be decorated in festive artwork and many parent volunteers are helping with set designs, costuming and decorating the school.

At Earl Grey, December is truly a season of giving. Thank you to all who have picked up a Christmas Star from the office wall or contributed to our Christmas Star collection. These gifts and hampers will make Christmas much brighter for some of our Earl Grey families. We are asking to have the Christmas Star gifts dropped off at the school by December 15th.

We will also be collecting for the Mayor’s 29th Annual Food Drive. Boxes will be located in the front hallway of the school. Non-perishable items can be dropped off for the next two weeks or on the evening of our concerts.

We are very fortunate as a school to have many parent and community members who have given us the gift of time through numerous volunteer hours. Our school council is comprised of an amazing group of parents. As a council they wish to grow and are asking for more parents to join them. Our next council meeting will be on January 16th at 12:45 p.m. Please join us!

We are also excited about our upcoming Art Residency in the New Year. At our last School Council meeting, parents decided on Rebecca Ellison as our Artist in Residence. The culmination of this residency will be a mural on the south wall of our Courtyard with contributions from all of our students. Please visit Rebecca Ellison website at: to have a look at her artwork.

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our hope that the gift of the season warms your heart and bring you happiness. May all the joys of Christmas and of the holiday season be yours now and throughout the New Year!
