Principal's Message | June

“The biggest happiness is when at the end of the year you feel better than at the beginning.”
Henry David Thoreau

We have shared an amazing year at Ramsay School and accomplished many projects and activities! Reflecting back, I am confident our students participated in learning opportunities that they will benefit from throughout their schooling and remember fondly as they continue their journeys. I want to thank everyone who is connected with Ramsay School, who support the work and learning that happens here every day. A special thank you to our parents and grandparents, your support and countless hours of volunteering keep Ramsay School the Little School with the Big Heart! I am often asked by families I show around the school why they have not heard of this amazing place and shouldn’t we get the word out, and I always tell them we value the community feel and the personal touches we can provide because we are who we are….a wonderful little secret! Next September, we are privileged to share our secret with a whole new group of kindergarten families who will be excited to join our school community. At the same time, we say goodbye to eight members of our Ramsay family who are moving on to Junior High. These students (and their families) have left a gentle footprint on the spirit of Ramsay School that is a treasure!

For those families new to Ramsay School, a big welcome, and to those leaving us, I wish you all the best for your future, wherever your journey leads you!

I hope to see parents on Thursday, June 8 for our School Council meeting at 6:00 pm and for the AGM at 7:15 pm. The AGM meeting is the opportunity for parents to elect the representatives who will be on your Council / Association next year. Please come to have a voice, run for a position or to become more informed.

Please join us on Thursday, June 15 for a whole school field trip to Heritage Park. Teachers will be looking for volunteers to spend a great day outdoors in the company of children. What a fun way to spend a day!

Our last day of school is Thursday, June 29 and we will dismiss at 12:30 pm as usual with report cards in hand. The morning will be full of activities to help teach an understanding and appreciation of this rich country we live in through aboriginal sharing activities. Happy 150 Canada and happy and safe trails this summer!
