Calgary Board of Education

Principal's Message

January 22, 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students of Wildwood School,

I am very excited to finally announce my starting date at Wildwood School.  I will commence my principal role on Monday, February 2.  I know the wait has been long for us all since the announcement in December when I was appointed principal.  Unfortunately, there were complexities in administrative staffing that delayed this process but I believe with this extra time the right people are in the right place.  I want to thank the entire Wildwood School Community for their patience during these procedures.  I want to give special recognition to the administrative team of Renée Prevette and Laurie Fowler for their leadership and commitment over the last two months.  I have been in regular communication with both of these leaders and I know the great work they have been doing in my absence.

I have been with the Calgary Board of Education for 25 years in the role of Teacher, Learning Leader, Specialist, Assistant Principal and Principal.  I am coming from Dr. E.W. Coffin School where I have been principal for four and a half years.  My style of leadership is based on leading a team, collaborating, working hard and maintaining a positive and supportive atmosphere for all members of the school community.  I believe when the whole school community works together, the most effective environment is created for students to learn and become confident, well socialized, resilient, and invested members of the school and global citizens.

I believe relationships are the cornerstone of our work as educators and this is a key element in my day-to-day interaction with each and every person I am involved with.  I am fortunate that Wildwood School has a great teaching and support staff along with supportive families and awesome students.  I am looking forward to joining this dynamic learning community and building strong relationships.

You will find me to be accessible and very present throughout the school and I encourage everyone to be involved and engaged.  Please stop in at the office to say hello or give me a call with any questions.
