Weekly Update | May 25, 2017

This week in review:

We were very happy to see so many parents attend our Volunteer Tea today! Volunteers allow us to provide our students with experiences that would otherwise be impossible. Thank you for making time to support our school and your child’s education!

This evening at the Kindergarten Orientation we will welcome a brand new group of excited young students and their families to our learning community. Meanwhile, our Grade 4 students are having a fantastic day at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller and we all enjoyed the performance by the Elboya Band earlier this week.

Save the date: Healthy Living & Aboriginal Day June 21, 9:00 – 11:45 am. We will need parent volunteers to make this success! Please stay tuned for more information. June 5-15 we will be collecting items for the Calgary Food Bank.

Lottery Information

Our school student population is at capacity and we may not have enough space for all students in our designated area who wish to attend William Reid. As a result, we will be using the lottery process to ensure fair and equitable access. The lottery draw for the 2017-18 school year will take place on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. To be considered for the lottery, fully completed registrations must be in place by noon on Tuesday, February 14th. Please click on the link below or call the office for more detailed information.

Traffic Safety

Please model traffic safety for our students by following regulations and using crosswalks! Kiss N’ Dash means that parents may not park or get out of their vehicle. Children should exit on the curbside and use the nearest crosswalk. Although the entire length of 12 street is a bus zone, parents may use the east side as a Kiss N’ Dash, after the opening of the fence and at their own risk. If a caregiver will be dropping off/picking up your child, please ensure that they clearly understand all traffic & safety regulations. Unauthorized cars and pedestrians are strictly prohibited in the parking lot.
