Weekly Update | June 22, 2017

This week in review:

Our first Healthy Living & National Aboriginal Day was a huge success! It was wonderful to have our special guests from the Tsuu T’ina Nation sharing a little bit of their culture with us. The open format worked well as students participated in many physical/mental/emotional/spiritual stations. A huge thank you to the many parent volunteers who came out to help!

All items remaining in our Lost & Found bin at the end of the year will be recycled or donated to a local charity. Please come and check it out soon!

The Playground Committee still needs a few more for volunteers for our playground installation! We are especially short on Thursday, July 13 and Friday, July 14! Playground Installation

If your child will not be attending William Reid School next year and you have not yet contacted the office, please send an email as soon as possible to WilliamReid@cbe.ab.ca. This information is crucial to our planning for the 2017-18 school year.

See you tonight for Last Blast from 5-7 pm! Rain or shine, come prepared for the weather. If needed, we’ll move inside and modify plans. Remember your picnic blanket!

Lottery Information

Our school student population is at capacity and we may not have enough space for all students in our designated area who wish to attend William Reid. As a result, we will be using the lottery process to ensure fair and equitable access. The lottery draw for the 2017-18 school year will take place on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. To be considered for the lottery, fully completed registrations must be in place by noon on Tuesday, February 14th. Please click on the link below or call the office for more detailed information.

Traffic Safety

Please model traffic safety for our students by following regulations and using crosswalks! Kiss N’ Dash means that parents may not park or get out of their vehicle. Children should exit on the curbside and use the nearest crosswalk. Although the entire length of 12 street is a bus zone, parents may use the east side as a Kiss N’ Dash, after the opening of the fence and at their own risk. If a caregiver will be dropping off/picking up your child, please ensure that they clearly understand all traffic & safety regulations. Unauthorized cars and pedestrians are strictly prohibited in the parking lot.
