Isis and OsirisPage 7Many people came to see what happened. Thoth came, and told Isis to catch the snake. She took a rope and caught the snake by the neck. She took the poison from his fangs, and made it into medicine. Horus came back to life. Horus grew up. He wanted to fight Seth, because Seth had killed Horus’ father. Horus gathered an army. The night before the battle, Osiris came to see Horus. He asked if Horus would rather have horses or lions for his men to ride into battle. Horus chose horses, because a horse could both attack and retreat, but a lion would just attack. Osiris gave Horus’ army horses. When Seth saw the soldiers riding horses, he called all of his army.
He changed some men into hippos, and some into alligators, and he sent them to attack and scare the horses. The arrows could not get through the skin of the hippos and the alligators. No-one could win the battle. Ra looked down and decided that the war is over. Ra divided Egypt into upper and lower Egypt…
Seth could rule one, and Horus could rule the other. But it just ended up becoming a battle again. The battle between Seth and Horus has never ended. |
