Masks

Our Gods and Pharaohs group took on the project of making papier mache mask of our favorite Gods/Goddesses. All of the Gods/Goddesses we chose have a role in our Celebration of Learning performance which we are very excited about.

We started out by researching the God/Goddess of our choice. We looked at books and on the internet and found pictures as well as information. We shared this information with each other so we could learn about more of the Gods/Godesses of Ancient Egypt. Ask us anything and we could tell you!

We continued by making a mold of our Gods/Goddesses heads using balloons, tin foil and egg cartons. Then we started to papier mache our masks. It was very messy and gooey, but lots of fun! We needed to add another layer of papier mache to make sure that our masks would be very strong.

When the masks finally dried, we got to use our amazing artistic abilities and started to paint them to look like our Gods/Goddesses. We did use some pictures to help us remember what their faces looked like.

Next we will be adding hair and headpieces to our masks. We will keep you posted on our progress!
