Kindergarten (Half Day Program) Instructional Supplies and Materials $15 This mandatory fee is charged to cover the cost of basic instructional, expendable resources, including, but not limited to, such things as paper, notebooks, agendas, crayons, paint, library cards, etc. Activity/Program Fees $50 (maximum) This user fee is charged to cover the cost of the special activities or programs. These activities may take place onsite or off campus, depending on location, availability, and cost. These activities will vary from year to year and will have clear connections to curricula being studied. Some examples include such things as special craft activities (gingerbread houses), art specialists such as the clay lady, classroom presenters such as the puppet lady and school-wide presentations and performances such as Alberta Opera, Evergreen Theatre, etc. Payment These fees are generally collected during the first month of school or at the time of registration for those who start after the end of September. A fees sheet is sent home and we ask that payment be made promptly as some activities are scheduled early in the school year. The school will accept payment by cheque or cash only. A charge of $20.00 will be made for NSF (non-sufficient funds) cheques to defray bank charges and related school costs. Please make cheques payable to Brentwood Elementary School. Grades 1 - 6 (Full Day Program) Instructional Supplies and Materials $30 This mandatory fee is charged to cover the cost of basic instructional expendable resources, including, but not limited to, such things as paper, notebooks, agendas, crayons, paint, library cards, student email, technology, etc. Incidental Activity Fee for students at lunchtime $10 As agreed with the School Council, the Incidental Activity Fee assists us in providing enhanced staffing, incidental needs and resources to be used during the noon hour (for example, craft materials, DVD's and DVD players for use during inclement weather, sports equipment for outdoor use). Activity/Program Fees $60 (maximum) Each student will be charged a one-time activity/program fee for the year, usually near the end of October. At that time, a list is supplied outlining the offsite and onsite special activities planned for the school year. The fee will vary from grade to grade depending on the number of activities planned and the cost of such trips. The fee includes admission costs/guest speaker cost, bus transportation, performances, in-line skating, etc. Parents will be given notice of individual offsite activities and your specific permission for such activities will still be required. Please note that programs such as swimming are NOT included in this fee and monies for this activity will be collected separately at the time the program is being offered. Band Fees for Students in Grade 5 & 6 $60 Charged to students in the band program to pay for clinicians, sheet music, CD's, etc. This fee does not include the musical instrument rental costs. Transportation Fees for Students in Kindergarten to Grade 9 All students who access transportation are charged a fee of $165.00 (family maximum of $330.00. This fee is submitted with the Application for Transportation form in June of each school year in order to allow our Transportation Department to plan transportation routes throughout the summer months, in preparation for the opening of the new school year.
