Principal's Message | December/January
Calgary weather – what can one say except ‘be ready for change in a moment’s notice!’ Please be prepared at all times - especially for those who have children who ride the bus.
A sincere thank you and congratulations goes out to a variety of students, staff and parents for very successful endeavours that have occurred over the last month.
- Bravo to our grade 5 teams who led our very heartfelt Remembrance Day assembly and the We Day project raising over 20 boxes of snack and lunch items for the Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids organization - filling TWO mini vans with boxes of donations that will be used to feed children in schools all over our city!
- Kudos to our grade 2, 3, and 4 teams for excellent performances that stemmed from the first set of dance residencies with Sound Kreations. Added performance items of songs in several languages truly enhanced the learning experience for children. Thank you to our music teacher Mrs. Fisher for the extensive work with students to put those choral presentations together. Last but not least, our sincerest gratitude to our Parent Council/Society for providing the funding for this program. Their continued financial support is greatly appreciated!
- Thank you to parents who have made the requested adjustments to their pick up and drop off practices in and around the school. Your recognition that ‘safety over convenience’ needs to be your priority is commendable. Please continue to keep that in mind at all times!
One of our global citizenship initiatives will include support of the Mayor’s Food Bank Drive this year. The Drive will begin on December 1 and continue through to December 15. Student Leadership will be sending home information about what types of items are best for donation. Be on the watch for more information about that in the near future.
Parent/Teacher Conferences remain an integral part of communicating student learning and achievement to parents. It is imperative that parents make every effort to attend conferences to connect with their children’s teacher – to understand progress to date as well as to understand work to the future. Please make every effort to book an appointment during conference times on December 7 and 8. Reports cards sharing ‘term one information’ will be sent home January 31st, 2018.
With the final approval of fees by both the CBE and the province of Alberta, it is important that fieldtrip/activity fees are reconciled as soon as possible. Fees can be paid online by accessing ‘My CBE Account’ on the CBE homepage as well as the Brentwood homepage.
January brings our Open House (January 11) as well as an additional Volunteer Orientation (January 15). If you have question about either of these events, please contact our main office for more information.
As we approach the holiday season, I wish you the best for the remainder of 2017 and into the future for 2018. May your holiday time be filled with opportunity to connect with family, friends and loved ones near and dear to you!
