Building a community of learners one step at a time

An optimistic future for your girls began at their birth and was advanced in August 2002 when the feasibility committee conceptualized Alice Jamieson Girls’ Academy. Each step brings the girls closer to Alice Jamieson Girls’ Academy’s relationship-based program. The success of this innovative, girl-centred program depends on staff, students, parents and members of the larger community working together. You can be confident that this program will be a success!

Advocacy for the students is evident throughout Calgary. The staff, students and parents of Stanley Jones School warmly welcomed this Academy knowing it will benefit the whole community. Caring citizens of Calgary want the girls in our program to enter adulthood with competence and confidence and are providing mentorship opportunities. It is wonderful to see so many communities come together to support the philosophy of AJA. Imagine how much more powerful these communities will be when they meet the AJA students!

Learning Activities for Home

The staff at Stanley Jones School has compiled a list of activities that families can do at home in support of literacy, math, and a variety of other ideas. We hope you find this resource useful!

Stanley Jones School Literacy Night - Support for Parents

After sharing a variety of literacy strategies and tools with families at our recent 'Literacy Night', the Stanley Jones School staff has compiled a description of their sessions for parents to use as a reference. Please see the attached document to read about the strategies and tools that were shared during 'Literacy Night' and so that you can use these to support the literacy development of your child at home.
