Jacket Racket Collection:
Jacket Racket has been providing clean gently used winter wear to Calgary children since 1988. This year, VASC has placed collection bins near our front entrance. If you have any winter wear that your children have outgrown that you would like to donate, please send it to school by Friday.
Seven Tips for Safer School Zones:
Student is safety is everyone’s concern. Please see the link below to find seven ways you can help to keep all children safe! We appreciate people taking a extra few minutes to be patient through a bit of inconvenience to do so!
Did You Know…
Did you know...that VASPFS is lucky enough to qualify for a casino? The casino is the BIGGEST fundraiser (~$70,000), runs every 21 months (or so) and requires volunteers (40+) to run. Casino funds pay for all field trip bussing (including swimming and skiing), agendas, Artist in Residence opportunities each year, and more! The dates for Varsity's Casino are Saturday, February 10th, and Sunday, February 11th, 2018. Please mark your calendar, and look for a sign-up sheet coming soon.
Help Get Lost Items Back to Your Child:
With fall weather, children often come to school in layers, but take them off as the day warms up. To help us get these items back to their owner, please label them. If you are interested, you can buy personalized labels through Mabel’s Labels throughout the year. A portion of the cost will go to support the school.

Classes may be partaking in some Halloween themed curricular activities (such as estimating how heavy a pumpkin is and then weighing the pumpkin; estimating how many ribs a pumpkin has, then counting the ribs; discussing the concept of symmetry and then carving symmetrical designs in a pumpkin, etc.), but they will not be having Halloween parties.
Students may dress in their regular clothes, or black and orange, but do not need to dress up in a costume. If individual students choose to wear a costume, we ask that masks, weapons, treasured items, or accessories that could be lost be left at home, and that anything that is worn does not interfere with the comfort of students during learning time. (There is a VASPFS Halloween Dance on Fri., Oct. 27 where students and families can dress up. If you are able to volunteer to help out at the dance, please sign up at https://www.volunteersignup.org/4MF3T)
We also ask that you do not send treats, candy, or other items to be shared with the class. We appreciate your cooperation in this.
