Weekly Reminder for Parents | Mar. 23, 2017

REMINDER NO SCHOOL TOMORROW AND NEXT WEEK IS SPRING BREAK.  The school office will be closed tomorrow as all staff are attending a professional development session off-site.  Classes resume on Monday, April 3.   Have a happy Spring Break!

Student-led conferences:  It was great to see so many parents out over the past two days sharing in their children’s learning!  The Spanish book fair held during conferences was a resounding success with the school earning $250.00 worth of free books.  Thank you for your purchases.

THANK YOU!  Teachers were extremely grateful for the lovely food prepared for them during student-led conferences.  Thank you so much for your generosity, particularly in being so thoughtful for those of us who have food allergies or preferences.  Your kindness is very much appreciated.  A special thanks to Marisa Norona for having organized this event time and again for our staff!

THANK YOU for your support of the WE club bake sale. Over $600.00 was raised in just under 4 hours.  Your support of this student-initiated event will go a long way in encouraging our students to continue with other community-minded ventures.  What a great way to learn!

THANK YOU for supporting the Dalhousie School bottle drive.  Many thanks to Carolyn Torhjelm for organizing this fundraiser.

Grade 2 students will be experiencing Teachers’ Pet in-school field trips April 4-6.

Grade 4 students will be attending Aggie Days on April 5.

FUN LUNCH – Next fun lunch will be held on April 6.  Orders must be placed by April 1.  Volunteers are always needed.  See Sign Up Genius if you’re available to volunteer.

Photography Residency starting soon – Don’t forget to ensure you have purchased an SD card from the school for our upcoming photography residency.  Cards may be purchased online through My CBE Account.

Physical Education class enhancements – Watch for some exciting enhancements to the Dalhousie School physical education program coming soon.  Sound Kreations is back beginning April 10 and then we are hosting a soccer in-school residency on April 25 & 26.

Who Do You Tell?– Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 will continue their work in the Who Do You Tell? program the week of April 3.

A New Playground for Dalhousie School – Many thanks to Tara Kuervers and Carly Frank for the display set up during student-led conferences that drew attention to the work getting started on building a new playground for our school.  Watch for more information on this exciting parent-driven initiative.

Yearbook order deadline:  Don’t forget to order your 2016-2017 school yearbook.  Deadline for orders is April 7.

Dalhousie student and parent community raised $2287.00 to donate towards the victims of the Fort McMurray fires.  This picture shows a few of the students at Dalhousie that took the cheque down to the Red Cross office to present to some of the employees.  We are proud of the generosity of our staff, students and parents.
