2010-2011 PROVINCIAL ACHIEVEMENT TEST RESULTS (PATs)
Provincial Test Results form an important part of the information that teachers use to identify students’ strengths and areas of concern and then guide them in the writing of the School Development Plan for the current year. The staff uses the information to look for patterns that will help them to plan units that will address the identified skills, knowledge areas and concepts. Because the teachers at all grade levels contribute to each child’s learning, all staff members are involved in the discussion of test results and the resulting actions that will be included in the School Development Plan for the year.
Evaluation is an important and ongoing part of everything that happens in your child’s classroom. Achievement test results provide part of the overall picture of how your child and the school are performing in comparison to other students in the province. If the total group appears to be encountering difficulty, teaching strategies are explored and modified to meet the group needs. Provincial Test Results are used to confirm information previously gathered by the teachers and to identify additional areas to be addressed. Your child’s teacher refers to the Program of Studies that outlines expectations for each subject at each grade level. With this information in mind, the needs of the class and individual students are considered while planning, implementing and evaluating a program.
At the grade 3 level, 41 students wrote the Math and Language Arts Tests.

The major outcome for the 2011-2012 is “Students, using a variety of formats, engage in higher level tasks through which they organize their thoughts, question, infer and express their understanding across the curriculum.”
Join us in a celebration of our students’ success.
Thank you.
