TRUTH Represented by the Turtle

Truth as per dictionary:

    1. Completely loyal, faithful
    2. The quality or state of being accurate
    3. In agreement with fact
    4. The body of real events or facts
    5. Sincerity in action, character, and utterance
    6. A transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality

Always seek the truth. The truth lives in spirit. Prayer was to be done every day at sunrise to give thanks to the Great Spirit for the gift of life. Each of the gifts and ceremonies were given by the Great Spirit to the original human beings to help them find the truth and the true meaning of their lives on Earth. Living the truth is living the Seven Sacred Teachings, living from the heart.

To know truth is to know and understand all of the original laws as given by the Creator – and to remain faithful to them. The elders say that if you can live out these laws, you will know TRUTH, thus leading to a strong and healthy life. To know these laws, one will know truth as the truth will always become prevalent.

The Turtle

It is said that in the beginning, when the Creator made man and gave him the Seven Sacred Teachings, the Grandmother Turtle was present to ensure that the laws would never be lost or forgotten.

The turtle also teaches us patience. As the turtle is one of the slowest moving creatures of Earth, it is her that seems to make it to her destination no matter the length of time that it may take her.

Grandmother turtle carries all teachings with her because if you count the markings on her back you will find 13 inner markings and 28 outer markings. This represents an old calendar of the days where we followed the moon as our guide. During this time we had 13 months and with 28 days each. This represented the truth of one cycle of the earth’s rotation around the sun [13 months] and the length of one month [28 days] with the cycle of the moon. Plus, it helped represent the cycle of a woman’s body as well. The turtle reminds us the cycles of the moon, the sun, the body and all of creation.

Grandmother turtle also carries her home on her back. She teaches us that all of life is sacred. The shell of the turtle represents the body of real events as created by the Higher Power and serves as a reminder of the Creator’s will and teachings. These signs are a confirmation of the Truth which the turtle reflects.

You are role models for everyone around you. It is your choice as to the kind of role model you wish to be. When you live your truth, you become a positive role model for others to follow.

Be truthful at all times, and under all conditions. Learn what truth is, speak your truth, and walk your truth. To know truth is to know and understand all of the original teachings as given by the Creator – and to remain faithful to them. These Seven Sacred Teachings [Respect, Honesty, Humility, Love, Courage/Bravery, Truth and Wisdom], are easy to learn and put them in the mind, but to truly live them in today’s world is a very difficult task. However, as in all of what is right, the truth will always prevail.
