The school office will be open for new registrations or questions on Thursday, August 27, 2015. All teachers will be back in the building on Thursday, August 27. Teachers will call parents/guardians after August 27 and by August 31, to inform them of their child’s class placement for the new year. Students will begin their new year on Tuesday, September 1 at 8:25 AM. Kindergarten students will be given their AM and PM placement designations at the end of this school year via mail, with information coming on a staggered entry schedule for kindergarten to begin the school year.

Somerset School is a “Calgary Reads” School

The intent of this program is to add further resources to reach all students in the best way possible to further their ability and joy of reading for a lifetime. For more information on this program please go to

We are looking for volunteers to help read with students. If you have some time and would be able to help read with students please call the school at 403-777-7001. (You must have Police Clearance done in order to volunteer in the school).

Traffic Safety & Clean Air

Help keep our students and community members safe - please respect the school zone speed limits, space around our pedestrian sidewalks and fire hydrants by parking five metres back for the safety of everyone.

For the environment we are promoting a “No Idle Zone” around the school.
