Welcome to Crossing Park School

On August 15, we welcome our students to the 2013-2014 school year at Crossing Park School. In this handout, you will find the answers to many of your back to school questions.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten classes begin on August 15 (with staggered entry times from August 15-20-notices were sent home in June detailing this information). Regular class schedule begins August 21.

First day of classes
Our first day of classes is Thursday, August 15 and the school office is open to parents on August 12.

Fees and Waivers
Fee sheets are distributed the first week of school and are due by the end of August.

Transportation
You can pick up your bus schedule and transportation information at the
office beginning on August 12.

School start and end times
Our bell times are 8:03 am-2:40 pm Monday to Thursday. On our early dismissal Fridays we dismiss at 11:30 am. Morning Kindergarten is from 8:03 am-11:03 am and afternoon kindergarten is from 11:40 am-2:40 pm.

School supply lists  
School supply lists are distributed by teachers on the first day of school-August 15.

Cafeteria
I Our cafeteria will open on August 27 for students in grades 5-9.

Assigned teachers
On the first day of school you will see your child’s classroom/ teacher posted on the outside of our school walls near the courtyard doors. Teachers will be there to meet students and take them to their classroom on August 15 at 8:03 am. Our students in grades 7-9 will meet in the junior high gym for their class assignments and Teacher Advisor.

Notice regarding Parent/Student communication changes:

Effective immediately, we are changing our policy on announcements after school due to the fact it is very disruptive to teachers who are working with students, teacher planning, and parent meetings. We will not be making any school wide announcements until 4:00 pm so it is very important you have attended to the following:
 1. Designated meeting spot - please have a designated spot where you meet your children every day so they know to go there and wait for you. Train them to know if you do not arrive what they should do-walk home by themselves, go to a neighbours or come to the office and ask for help (after waiting 10 minutes). Please train your child to find the front doors of the school.
2. Messages - for safety and security we will not be passing on phone messages to students as we have no way of verifying the callers identity. Please make sure your child knows if you are planning to pick them up for a medical appointment before they leave for school that day.
3. Lunches - if you plan on bringing your child their lunch-please tell them and label their lunch. Lunches can be left on the front counter but no announcement or phone call to the classroom will be made. Students can come to the office to pick up their lunch once the lunch bell has rang.
