PARENT, TEACHER & STUDENT CONFERENCES
Conferences will be on Thursday, September 21 and Friday, September 22, 2017. The first conferences of the year are intended for you to share about your child and their interests, abilities and talents. You know your child best and it is important we get to know them so we can serve their unique abilities within the classroom. Please complete your Parent Viewpoint which can be a good starting point for discussion with the classroom teacher. If you have not yet booked your conference you may do so up until noon on Thursday, September 21st at https://webapps.cbe.ab.ca/MyAccount/Account/LogOn. There will be no Kindergarten on Thursday the 21st and no school for all students on Friday the 22nd. Students on IPPs have 30 minute blocks to accommodate discussing goals for the coming term.

CUAL ES NUESTRA HISTORIA? & ORANGE SHIRT DAY
In continuation of our exploration of “What is our story?” as a school, students have been engaging in listening to and sharing their stories with their classes. One of the stories which have started to be shared are those of our First Nations as part of the Truth & Reconciliation work. On Monday, October 2nd, Eugene Coste will partake in Orange Shirt Day. Based on students’ age and stage, teachers will share stories which reflect the experiences of children in residential schools, engaging them in age appropriate conversations to draw connections to these experiences with our own students’ lives. Our sincere hope is students can make a connection with other stories and experiences from this work, further gaining an appreciation for the stories of all of our community in helping shape our nation.

TERRY FOX RUN
On Thursday, September 28th, we will be holding an assembly in the gym from 10:00 -10:20am to discuss the significance of Terry Fox and how we as participants are helping Terry finish his run. This run is held in a number of countries from around the world who also wish to honor Terry’s legacy. Afterwards we will run outside from 10:20 – 10:45 on our school fields. Following the run, students will have a discussion with their classmates about how they felt during the run and why the Terry Fox Run is so important.

To include the afternoon kindergarten students, we will also be running from 1:40 – 2:10. Students will meet on the field and run prior to having afternoon recess. Parents/Guardians are welcome to join us for both the assembly and both runs.

MILK ORDERS
Our optional milk program will begin in October. We are not able to process fees online and would ask parents to submit payment through cheque (payable to Eugene Coste) or cash to the school.
