VIRTUE OF THE MONTH

May's Virtue of the Month is "Honesty"
Our virtue for the month of May is “Honesty“. Honesty is being truthful and sincere.  It is important because it builds trust. Our students demonstrate this virtue on a daily basis.  We regularly have students return lost items to the office or the Lost and Found box as they are very aware of the importance of this virtue.  It is evident that our students take pride in their honesty and truly strive to do the right thing.

Another area where we see this virtue being demonstrated is when students are brought together to solve a problem that may have arisen between them.  In almost all cases, the students admit their part in the issue and are willing to take positive steps to solve the problem.  Their willingness to be honest plays a huge part in resolving the issue and re-establishing trust between the children.

As adults, we can foster this very important virtue in our children.  One of the most important things we can do is teach them to be true to themselves and the values held by their family.   By doing so, they are more likely to choose the right course of action, particularly when they are confronted with several choices, some of which are not appropriate.  In essence, we want them to always put forth an “honest effort” in everything they do.  By doing so, they can live the virtue of honesty and reach their full potential.

No legacy is so rich as honesty.

Le Roi Daniels: A Nut-Aware School

We have several students with severe allergies in our school.  Out of concern for their safety and wellbeing, we ask that students, staff and volunteers do not consume nuts or nut based products within our school.  While we recognize that this might pose a minor inconvenience for some people, we need to recognize that these products might mean the difference between life and death for those with severe allergies.  It is a collective responsibility to ensure that our school provides a safe environment for all who work and learn here.  It is strongly recommended that if your child has any serious medical concerns, to please let our staff know so that we can be sure to have the appropriate measures and procedures in place.  Children who do require an epi-pen should always carry the epi-pen with them in a “fanny pack” or similar device.  Please feel free to contact the school around any medical issue that arises with your child/children.
