Valentine's Day and WeDay Dance

Valentine’s Day is a wonderful time for students to celebrate friendship, kindness, and empathy! As such, classes may plan special festivities to mark this day. If your child chooses to send Valentine’s Day cards please send one to each member of the class and, due to food allergies and sensitivities, that no snacks be brought in for the celebration.

The WeDay Club and Principal’s Advisory Council are organizing a dance for the students on Feb 15. Rafiki bracelets will be on sale for $10.00.

Swimming Program Feb. 27-Mar. 2 and Mar. 6-9

The School Council has generously covered the cost of the swimming lessons and the bussing for all of our students to take part in lessons this year. It is imperative that the Acknowledgement of Risk and the Swimming Ability Form be completed and returned to school by Monday, Feb 13. Children need to bring a towel, clean underwear to change into after swimming, a hair tie if needed, a comb or brush and a hearty snack.

Board Game Club – Gr 3 to 5

Club dates will be Feb 14, 21, and Mar 14, 21. This is a fun club that gives the students the opportunity to explore various board games with Mr. Barker in the Learning Commons from 11:35am – 12:00pm. Information will be sent home soon for students to sign up.

Late or Absent?

Your child’s safety is of utmost importance to us. A reminder that if a student is arriving to school after the late bell they are directed to come through the front doors of the school and check into the front office. This way no child will be left unattended outside.

If a student is going to be very late or absent please call the school office at 403-777-8190, ext. 1 to inform the office staff. Our Synervoice will continue to send out messages to numbers provided informing you of a child’s absence or late, but this does not occur until after attendance is taken.

If you have any personal information to addresses, phone numbers, contacts, etc., please inform the office so the necessary changes can be made. Having current information is important so parents/guardians can be reached anytime, particularly in the case of an emergency.

Traffic Safety

It is important that all parents/guardians obey the following:

  • Do not drop off or pick up your child in the school parking lot.
  • Do not make U-turns.
  • Respect the 30 km school zone limit.
  • Do not double park.
  • Cross at the designated crosswalk.
  • Follow the direction of the patrollers.
  • Have your child enter through the front doors of the school if arriving after school starts.

Please note that NO PATROLLERS WILL BE OUT DURING THE LUNCH HOUR. If your child requires assistance to cross Maryvale Drive in front of the school, please call the school and arrangements will be made for them to be assisted by staff.
