Lake Bonavista School is situated in the southeast corner of the Bonavista community. Our school motto “Growing the Future” was inspired by our garden project and is a powerful metaphor capturing the future oriented optimism of our school.
As a dual track school, Lake Bonavista School offers both a community program (Kindergarten to Grade 4) and a Montessori program for students Kindergarten to Grade 6.
student and staff mobility have traditionally been Low in our school. Strong parent support for education is evident in the many activities our Parent Council supports.
Our students’ education has been enriched by a variety of experiences such as visits from authors, performance groups, Artists in Residence programs, and a garden project. We look forward to working with Calgary Opera this coming year.
At Lake Bonavista School we emphasize a balanced approach to learning. We believe that this approach gives each student the opportunity to develop required skills and knowledge, as well as to build their unique strengths.
Academic standards are high at Lake Bonavista School. Students in our school usually meet or exceed Provincial standards in the Grade 3 and 6 achievement tests.
Students from Lake Bonavista School generally attend Nickle Middle School. Dr. E.P. Scarlett School is the designated high school for this area.
Students completing Grade 6 in the Montessori track return to their designated junior high school
for Grade 7.
