Parent Update | Week of March 20, 2017

Updates and Info

Storytelling Celebration – We hope you are able to join us on Tuesday, March 21 at 6:00 pm for our storytelling celebration. The event begins in the gym with a school-wide story that is written and performed by some of our students. The Kindergarten will also share the story that they have written. Then parents are invited to their own child’s storytelling area throughout the school where all students will have the opportunity to tell a story in their small group. Parents should have received an invitation indicating their child’s group number and storytelling location. All students should arrive at the school between 5:40 and 5:55. All students will meet in their homeroom classes.

Moving??? Please let us know. We are in the process of determining how many staff we will need for next year and what the grade configurations will look like. The more accurate we can be with knowing how many students we will have, the better. If your child will not be coming to Andrew Sibbald School next year, please let us know. Next year, we will be Kindergarten to Grade 5.

Student Led Conferences – Conferences are this Thursday, March 23rd 8:00 – 1:00 and 4:00 – 7:00. If you have not already booked a conference, please go online to your “My CBE Account” then go to “School Conferences Booking”. The bookings are in one-hour blocks. There may be up to four families booked in at a time. These are student led conferences. The students will have a number of activities and artifacts of student work to share with their parents as evidence of their learning. The classroom teacher will be available to have conversations with, as the student work is being shared. You do not have to stay for the full hour block. If you require a more private conversation with the teacher or are unable to attend the student led conference on March 23rd, please contact your child's teacher. Teachers who do not have a home room (Mrs. Bishop, Mrs. McKay and Ms. Manser) will be also be available to have a conversation with during these conferences. If you have any trouble booking these conferences, please contact us in the office at 403-777-6830.

• Andrew Sibbald Movie Day – the parent association has organized an Andrew Sibbald movie day at Canyon Meadows Theatre on April 8th at 10:00 am. The movie playing is Moana. If you are interested in attending, complete a form and return it to the office. All completed forms need to be returned to the office by March 22
• Kindergarten Before and After School care – The before and after school care for Kindergarten provided by The Adventures at Andrew Sibbald School is definitely going ahead. Please contact Stephanie at 403-869-2970 if you are interested. They also provide after school care for grade 1-5 students.
