Descriptions of school council positions:

CHAIRPERSON:
Chairs the once a month meetings, establishes the agenda, works closely with the principal.

VICE CHAIRPERSON:
Chairs the meetings in absence of the chairperson.

TREASURER:
Maintains the council/society bank account.

SECRETARY:
Keeps minutes of the meetings, distributes minutes to council members.

KEY COMMUNICATOR:
Represents Chris Akkerman at one CBE key communicator system wide meeting every other month. Reports system issues to council.

FUNDRAISING REPRESENTATIVE:
Receives information regarding possible fund raising events. Presents ideas to council. Helps co-ordinate fund raising events in the school.

COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVE:
Shares information from Calgary Marlborough Community Association meetings, brings forth community issues to council.

SCHOOL COUNCIL IS:

• Valuable open communication regarding school issues.
• Contributing to the school direction
• Hearing special presentations related to your children
• Contributing to our school community
• Only one meeting a month.

ALL PARENTS WITH CHILDREN ATTENDING CHRIS AKKERMAN SCHOOL ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME OUT AND BE PART OF THE COUNCIL. YOU DON'T HAVE TO HOLD A BOARD POSITION TO BE PART OF THE COUNCIL. YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL BE NOTICED AND APPRECIATED.
