Parent involvement in the reporting processes in the CBE and at Sam Livingston School
Our provincial programs of study are changing and like many other school divisions in Alberta, the CBE is re-designing assessment and reporting practices to reflect these changes.
In our letter to parents on October 24, 2013, we provided specific information about reporting processes in the CBE and at Sam Livingston School, and how you can be involved:
Throughout the 2013-14 school year, we will have opportunities to discuss assessment and reporting processes. It will be important that we undertake this work together. Please take the time to review the links and documents below and think about the key questions.
- What is most important for you to know about how your child is doing at school?
- Are there ways that teachers have communicated this information to you that you think are particularly effective? Ineffective?
- Do you have other ideas about how we could better communicate?
Students will be receiving their report cards on Thursday, January 30th and Wednesday, June 25th.
Parents had the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher on Thursday, September 19th or 20th, 2013. Additional face to face meetings are planned for December 5th and 6th 2013, and March 20th and 21st, 2014.
Teachers will be sharing student outcomes, evidence of learning, and how both students and teachers assess that evidence of learning, through a portfolio and goal setting process during the December and March interview times.
