Student-Led Conferences | Mar. 22 & 23, 2017

Student-led conferences will be held on March 22 from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm, and on March 23 from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. As in the past, this type of interview process involves your child sharing and explaining their work and growth while demonstrating their understanding of curricular concepts through common classroom tasks. Parent participation is essential and allows for parents to obtain first-hand knowledge of your child’s learning experiences. We ask that you and your child attend together during this time to enable you to give your child your undivided attention.

Parents will be able to book appointments online any time after 4:00pm on Thursday, March 16, using the My CBE Account button and your account information. Siblings can be scheduled within the same “hour,” however please note that most student led conferences take approximately 40 – 45 minutes to complete. One hour will be made available for each child but there is no need to arrive precisely on the hour. Also, please feel free to leave when you are finished. We look forward to seeing everyone at this important event.

What's New | March

Something that is very important to us at Sunalta School is that we focus on educating the whole child. Citizenship, personal and character development are critical aspects of our work here and woven into the curriculum. We just wrapped up our "Gifts from the Heart Food Drive" where classrooms were challenged to bring in more than 100 food items each for the Food Bank. During the month of March our students will be enjoying a play from Evergreen Theatre and all our Division II students had a field trip to Vertigo Theatre to see a play “Starkeeper” directly related to their curriculum objectives. At Sunalta School our students have the opportunity to partake in many clubs at lunch or after school which not only engage young minds and bodies but also spark their motivation and make the links between academic learning and real life. Sunalta students can participate in "We Act" club which supports local and international charity work, Multimedia Club, Coding Club, Cartooning Club, Math Club, Pokemon Club, Art Club, Yoga Club, and many others throughout the year. Robotics Club and Circus School will begin in early April. Our grade fours will be attending “Museum School” in the spring. We are currently finishing our Identity Mask Making project in celebration of Canada's 150th birthday. Look for our masks to be displayed at the Leighton Art Centre from March 11 to April 29, and the Animated Objects Festival from March 16 - 19 and the Calgary Board Office late this year.
