Math Strategy Engagement Survey

The CBE is developing a K-12 mathematics strategy that will help our students succeed in math. They want to hear from you on what you think would benefit students in learning math and help you as a parent or guardian to support your child.

Please complete the online survey anytime between Feb. 22 and Mar.15. Your input will be used to help create the best strategy for future math success.

For more information on our K-12 math strategy engagement and links to math education resources for parents please visit our website.

Nutrition Pilot Program

We are extremely fortunate to have been chosen to pilot a new Alberta Government Nutrition Program! This program will provide all children the opportunity to receive all or part of a nutritious breakfast consisting of the four food groups every day for FREE.

Growing children need to have food on a regular basis – every two to three hours at least and so food provided will be available throughout the day for those children who need additional sustenance. Calgary Meals on Wheels will provide all of the healthy food choices offered to children. We are in the process of hiring a morning Breakfast Supervisor trained in proper food handling.

The program will begin on Friday, January 6 with a school-wide breakfast celebration in each classroom for all students and staff. Beginning on Monday, January 9 students will be able to make healthy food choices on the way to class. Every student can participate whether they have had breakfast at home or not. If they are hungry they can eat!

Parents/guardians: Due to Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), if you want to keep receiving electronic messages from our school on commercial topics such as student fees and field trip costs, you need to subscribe online.
In addition, if you want to receive any text messages from our school, you need to opt-in by texting the word YES to the six-digit number 724665.
Did You Know About the Book Truck?
The Glenmore Square Library has moved down to Quarry Park, sadly, but that doesn't mean that you can't get a book! In addition to stopping at Banting and Best and Sherwood Schools on every second Tuesday, it also stops at Safeway and at MOCA every second Thursday. Click here to get details - this is a great opportunity for you to have easy access to great reads!
News from the CBE
Every month, the Calgary Board of Education publishes CBE news either from the Board of Trustees or from the Chief Superintendent, David Stevenson. These are very interesting and helpful information for families of students. Please take a moment to look at two of our newest editions: November and December of 2016. These are all archived under CBE News, to the left.
Parent Council
Parent Council is held on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:15 pm. Our next meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, November 1.

On Thursday, April 21, student's were able to enthusiastically share their learning across the school through a Celebration of Learning. All children, from Kindergarten to Grade 3 highlighted their learning over the past months in this open house style presentation from 6 to 7:30 pm. The event was well attended and everyone enjoyed meeting their neighbours, having a small bite kindly supplied by our Parent Council and seeing the exciting displays.
