SCHOOL COUNCIL AND PARENT ASSOCIATION NEWS - May
The Olympic Heights School Council and Parent Association are looking for a few parents to fill some
positions for the coming school year. If you are interested in taking a greater role in your child’s
education and becoming more involved in our school community, there are a few positions available.
We are in need of a Secretary, Newsletter Editor, 2 Fun Lunch Coordinators and a Fundraising
Coordinator. Support and training is provided for all of these positions - no experience is necessary -
only a desire to help!
In April, we were pleased to hear from psychologist Ruth Buffam of Positive Psychology. For more

- To the parents and volunteers who helped out at the Spring Concert Bake Sale and Teacher
Appreciation Dinner, especially those who helped bake the cookie dough to sell at the sale.
Both events were a huge success!
- To Principal Barbara Bannon for the ongoing efforts to minimize the impact of the funding
shortfall on the students of our school.
Green Committee Update
We are thrilled with the success of the solar panel project and have been given a grant by Conoco
Philips, Talisman and the CBE for 12 solar panels when we were hoping for 6!
Fun Lunch Update
The Fun Lunch Committee is excited to have M & M Meat Shop (Westhills) prepare a BBQ Fun Lunch
on Friday May 24th. M & M staff will BBQ beef burgers at the school for students in Grades 1 to 6. The
cost will be set at $6.00 for a burger on a bun with condiments, small snack and a juice box. Volunteers
will be needed on this day so please look for the forms in your child's agenda.
This is our last event for the school year. The Parents Association thanks you for your support!
