Grade 2 - Mr. Bohn

Bien Venue Bouctouche!

During our inquiry of an Acadian community the children had many questions about what it was like. They researched a town of Bouctouche, N.B. They learned about the industries, services, the history and culture. They decided to show their understanding of Bouctouche by actually building the town. They ran the town as if it was a normal day in Bouctouche. These pictures show the children planning then reenacting the services and industries they truly experienced the virtues of helping others and relying on others in the community.

Prairie Pioneer Movie Making

Our inquiry into prairie life began through children’s questions and culminated into a film showing what they had learned. Imbedded in this project were many opportunities to practice citizenship virtues such as cooperation, compromise and responsibility. These pictures reveal the involved process that is usually transparent in this medium.

Peace Mosaic

The Grade 4 children in Room 23 and their Grade 2 buddies in Room 24 were wondering what symbols of peace were used in the world.  They used books and the internet for their inquiry.

They were able to create many original and interesting symbols using different art and natural mediums.

Creating

During their study they realized that peace requires the important virtue of cooperation.  By making a mosaic with their symbols they were able to show this understanding.
