Principal's Message - February

MLS has the Olympic spirit.

For me, the two very best things about 1988 were the Winter Olympics here in Calgary and the birth of my first baby. I can remember crowding onto the trains and busses with all the excited tourists, my family shouting “Make way for the pregnant lady!” and everyone laughing at the ridiculous idea there might be an extra inch of space anywhere!

I remember how proud we were to be hosting this fabulous celebration of athletic excellence in our breathtakingly beautiful mountains, and I remember how joyfully we applauded every athlete whether they won - or not. We all volunteered to help out, and we danced and sang and cheered, and every stranger became a friend, and none of us ever wanted it to end. It inspired the best in all of us….

This is what I hope all of us at McKenzie Lake School do every day! If we can all inspire the best in ourselves, the best in every child, then we can indeed celebrate excellence!

Staff News

We will be saying goodbye to Mrs. Chris LaRoque and Mrs. Kaye Ramsay-Carlson at the end of this school year. After dedicating over 30 years of service to children and families they have announced they will be retiring in June. Both of these terrific teachers have contributed enormously to the lives of many students and they have woven themselves into the fabric of our school community. We will miss them terribly but know they will remain in our hearts.
