Chaparral Registrations for all 2017-18 Kindergarten Students Needs to be Completed by Feb. 6, 2017

Registration for the 2017-18 school year begins Monday, Jan. 9, 2017. Children must be at least four years old on or before March 1 to start kindergarten in September of the same calendar year. You have to register in person at your school with proof of residence, your child's name, date of birth and citizenship. Visit the CBE Registration page for more information and for the forms you'll need. More information is available on the CBE Kindergarten page.

Chaparral School is currently capped. This means that we only have room for 70 students at each grade level.  If we exceed this number in kindergarten registrations for the 2017-18, then we will conduct a lottery process.

The lottery criteria for order of acceptance are as follows:

Priority 1

Students residing within the walk zone who have a sibling attending the school at the time of registration (see individual school profile pages for maps)

Priority 2

Students living outside the walk zone who have a sibling in the school/program OR students living within the walk zone who do not have a sibling in the school/program

Priority 3

All other students living in the designated community.

To be considered for the lottery, registrations must be in place by Monday, February 6, 2017. This includes registrations for kindergarten age students that already have a sibling attending Chaparral School.

Lottery draws will be supervised by more than one person, including the school principal or administrative delegate. All registrations will be assigned a number and an accurate record of the lottery will be created and maintained.  Parents will be notified by the school regarding status of their application.

If an acceptance or call back is refused by the parent, the student’s name will be removed from the list. If the refusal is based on the inability to take all members of a family, the student may remain on the list and be recalled if there is space for all.
