Evergreen School's "Walking Wednesday" was featured on Mayor Nenshi's Walk Challenge Facebook Page. Click here to see the story.
Each Wednesday, beginning on October 8, students at Evergreen school are encouraged to participate in WALKING WEDNESDAY! We are inviting everyone to walk to school in the morning to help promote fitness and healthy activity, to reduce traffic congestion around our school, and to raise awareness of healthy environmental practices (like walking instead of driving). We want to make sure that all students have the opportunity to walk so parent volunteers have organized a Walking School Bus. If you usually drive, live far away, or if your child normally takes the bus, this is for you!
How it works:
- Each Wednesday morning, parents are invited to bring Evergreen Students to one of five drop-off locations on the attached map instead of driving to school.
- Parent Volunteers will be at the stops wearing brightly coloured traffic vests and carrying Walking School Bus Signs. Please do not leave your child unattended.
- At 7:45 AM, the parent volunteers and the children will walk to school in a group, arriving just before the bell rings to go in. Teachers will be on supervision at this time.
- Our Walking School Bus volunteers welcome other parents to join them in the morning so come and join the fun!
Please note, the Walking School Bus will only be in the morning on Wednesdays, so please make arrangements for your child to go home after school. Bus A and Bus B will be running as usual.
If you have any questions about the Walking School Bus or want to volunteer, please contact Bidisha at firstname.lastname@example.org and she will be happy to answer questions.
