Message from Administration | October/November

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We have had a wonderful school start-up and look forward to an exciting school year! We began our year with the construction of our new school playground. This has been a vast undertaking by our very dedicated School Council and School Society members (current and past). We want to thank them for their commitment in working tirelessly over the past several years to make the playground a reality. We would also like to thank the volunteers from Devon Canada and the Genesis Centre, as well as, the many community and parent volunteers who came to help with the construction of the playground. The playground is in the final phase of construction and we anticipate it will be completed by the end of October, beginning of November (weather permitting). Our students and staff are tremendously excited and look forward to playing on our new creative playground.

We want to thank all parents/guardians who attended our recent Parent-Teacher Conferences that were held on September 21 and 22, 2017. We are very proud of our students and staff, and their commitment to learning. We appreciate your continued support of your child’s learning at our school. Your partnership with the school is invaluable in advancing student learning! We would like to take this opportunity to let you know that you may contact us at any time if you would like to further discuss your child’s progress. Our next Parent-Teacher Conference will be held on December 7 and 8, 2017.

We currently have 602 students registered in our school from Kindergarten to Grade 4. Our school is organized for learning in the following way:

  • Kindergarten – six classes (three AM and three PM classes)
  • Grade 1 – five classes
  • Grade 2 – six classes
  • Grade 3 – four classes
  • Grade 3/4 – one class
  • Grade 4 – four classes

In addition, we have a Music specialist, a Physical Education specialist, five Literacy and/or Learning Leaders, five Education Assistants and three School Assistants providing ongoing instruction and support to our students.

Our School Development goal continues to focus on improving student achievement in literacy. We continue to focus on designing engaging tasks and assessments by teaching high impact literacy strategies and teaching disciplinary literacy across the curriculum.
