Welcome to the All Boys Program
Boys Achieving Their Personal Best

Weekly Update | Nov. 19, 2017

“How can I develop my resiliency to grow, learn and contribute to a community?”

Happy Sunday!

This past week we had the first opportunity for formal conversations in regards to student progress this year. We appreciate the connections we are able to make with you, the Parents, in supporting your son in their education. Teachers are in the midst of making adjustments, planning for the next right steps and looking to create opportunities for the Boys to demonstrate their strengths while addressing gaps in learning. It is my hope that you heard this sentiment threaded through your conversations with your son’s teacher.

Honourable Kent Hehr was in this past week to visit with our grade 5/6 Boys. I witnessed an outstanding representation from our Boys as they engaged with Honourable Hehr on the topic of democracy. The Boys were able to dialogue about the importance of a sound democracy and some of the principles that make a democracy strong and resilient. The deep questions the Boys asked enabled them to take advantage of their opportunity to deepen their understanding – well done Boys!

Our grade 2 students continue to build their buffalo as they explore shapes and space. They have designed their prototype and will be working on constructing their scaled up one over the next few weeks. Our grade 3 Boys were the keynote speakers this past Thursday at our school gathering. They took the risk to perform on the school djembe’s. It was a connection to some of the work they are doing as they investigate Malawi. The grade 4s have begun to build their Alberta and will have the base completed this coming week – please see the class Blog for pictures. The grade 5/6’s are ready to start their next phase of building the city of Calgary – again some outstanding work being done there. Mr. Vanderlinden has been working with some leadership students and they are now supporting the grade 3/4’s as they participate in their round of intramurals.

We have our second trip to Repsol this week and we have made a few adjustments to help the Boys in their transitions both to their activity and again when the activity is done. I will be sending a separate email home in regards to Repsol.

We had an oops in regards to our schedule for the Parent Council Meeting that was scheduled to be this week coming up. It was held this past week instead of the published date this week coming up. I apologize to those parents who wanted to come and participate. If you would like to come in on Tuesday and connect with me, please send me an email and I will book a time for us to connect. Lastly, I would like to thank our wonderful parents for providing nourishment for staff during the conferences. I can assure you it is greatly appreciated by all staff. We are so fortunate at the All Boys to have such a supportive community.

Looking forward to an amazing week at All-Boys!

Have a great Sunday everyone.
