Principal Greeting | January

Hello Parents,
I thank you for taking the time to read our February newsletter. I hope you find it informative about the events and activities taking place at the school. We have now been in the new building for an entire month and it is feeling like home. Students have settled in to the routines and expectations of the school. We have our student council formed, a Me 2 We club planning global initiatives, and our developmental and competitive basketball teams practicing and competing. We look forward to having Rock Mejia work with our grade 5 students this month in our Artist in Residence program. He will work with grade 6-8 students in March. We again would like to recognize local realtor David Pelletier who provided the funding to allow us to run this program. We are also in the process of organizing a number of field trips. These include a ski trip to Norquay for grade 7 and 8 students, the Me 2 We Club participating in the My World Conference, the grade 5 and 6’s heading to Camp Chief Hector in March and our grade 8 trip to Ottawa and Quebec in May.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your children. I am continually impressed with their eagerness to learn, their cooperative nature, and their kindness to one another. Ms. Jeffrey and I have been teaching dance to the grade 5 and 6 students over the past weeks and we have never had a group of students so eager to participate, try their best, and quite honestly “dance like nobody’s watching”. The sportsmanship I see on the basketball court, the depth of ideas offered at Me 2 We club meetings, and the day to day smiles and “good mornings” from students makes teaching at West Ridge School a joy. This does not happen by chance so we as a staff thank you for sharing your children with us!
