Welcome to West Ridge School
We will be hosting our final conferences of the school year on March 22nd (4pm to 8pm) and 23rd (8-12, 1-3). Parents will be able to book a ten minute slot to meet with their team of teachers. Parents will also have as much time as they need before or after this interview to have their child show them what they are learning in a student-led conference. We hope to see you then!

|Principal Greeting | March
Hello parents and thank you for taking the time to read this month’s newsletter. As I write this message we are busy preparing for our first new student open house. It is hard to believe we are starting preparations for year two already!
Our projections for next year are for the school to grow to a population of close to 500 students. This is mainly due to us adding another grade level as we move from a 5-8 school to a 5-9 school. With this growth will come many new teachers. Our cozy staff of 17 teachers will grow to somewhere in the neighbourhood of 25 teaching staff. This will enable us to offer not only another grade level but even more learning opportunities for students.
March is again an exciting month with a lot of different activities. Our grade 5 and 6 students will be spending four days at Camp Chief Hector for Outdoor School. The staff have been planning some great learning activities for the students and it is going to be an experience they won’t forget. We also have our badminton program starting up with a developmental team for all grades (no cuts), and two competitive interschool teams for grade 6-8 students to try out for.
We also have two different Artist in Residence programs happening. Our grade 6-8 students have their turn to work with a hip hop / rap artist. Each grade will have a Friday afternoon showcase that parents are invited to attend. We also have some visual artists that will be working with all students to create a legacy mural for the school. We thank David Pelletier, a local realtor, for providing funding for these programs.
The last item I would like to address is our grand opening. This takes place on April 7th. There are many dignitaries invited to this event as well as all the students. There will be limited seating available for parents. I will be sending out a link to register for the event once we determine how many seats will be available.
Thank you again for your support and if you ever have and questions or concerns please feel free to call us at the school.
