Valley Creek School Council meets at 7:00 pm on the third Tuesday of the month. You can contact the Council or Society by leaving a message at (403) 777-7995 ext 3600 or sending an email to vcmscouncil@live.com.
The School Council meetings are a great way to find out what is happening at the school and to discuss issues that are important for all students. We encourage all parents to attend these meetings in order to share information, ask questions, or gather insights into the school.
Council News
- School Council and Society meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. We have two meetings left for this school year. They are April 16th and May 21st. Every parent is a member and is welcome to attend.
- At the March Council meeting parents were asked to provide feedback on the 2013 / 2014 school calendar, to list the pros and cons of the current organization for learning and to talk about what was most important for the education of Valley Creek students. Also, Carolyn reviewed the upcoming budget and the cut backs that were facing schools due to the recently announced Provincial budget.
- The Valley Creek School Cooperating Society recently received funds from the AGLC for the casino. $68,849 was deposited into our casino account. We would again like to thank all parents that came out to support the casino in December. We made three motions to support the school. With casino funds, $1,800 was motioned to pay for the Kenneth Oppel author visits and $15,000 was motioned to support a sound system the school will be investing in. With Avgen gift card funds, $3,800 was motioned to purchase picnic tables for the students to use. The picnic table purchase was requested by the student advisory.

Volunteering at Valley Creek
We welcome volunteers into our school. In order to volunteer at Valley Creek School you need to have a current police clearance with the Calgary Board of Education and have filled out an Annual Volunteer Registration Form. Please check with the main office to ensure your paperwork is current. Police checks are good for 5 years. |
