| The
Science School is especially suited for students who:
- demonstrate
an interest in and commitment to science learning
- are independent
or self-directed learners and collaborative workers
- are enthusiastic
risk takers in their learning
- are attracted
to rigor and depth in their learning
- are at an
intermediate level or above in English language proficiency
- are curious
about the way the natural world and/or technological world works
- are predisposed
to a scientific process (observing and then wondering how things
work, predicting, synthesizing and applying)
- prefer direct
contact with phenomena
- show an
interest in making connections between scientific ideas and other
areas of learning (such as language arts, mathematics, social
studies, art)
Students
will learn the Alberta Learning Program of Studies through "the
lens of science." This means that, when feasible and possible, scientific
ideas guide the learning. For example, when a study of Astronomy
is undertaken, students would engage in learning experiences that
may include sky sciences, history, literature, art and mathematics
which are connected to this area of study. |
