Welcome to Elboya School
for the 2017-18 school year

On Sept. 5, we welcome our students to the 2017-18 school year at Elboya School. In this handout, you will find the answers to many of your back to school questions.

First Day of Classes
Our first day of classes is September 5 and the school office is open to parents on August 28, 2017. Grades 1 – 4 students will be meeting in the courtyard south of the building (if it rains we will be in the Auxiliary gym). Grades 5 – 9 will go to their homeroom classrooms. We will be posting these lists in the school. If you are new to Elboya, we will welcome you in the main gym. We will be having a sports day on the first day back so we encourage students to dress in comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather and appropriate footwear. Students should wear sunscreen; bring a water bottle and hat.

CPAWS Southern Alberta Gareth Thomson Award

Grade 8 students at Elboya School have received the 2017 Gareth Thomson Award from the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society for the most inspiring action project done by a group. Students were asked to create a Science project focusing on protecting watersheds during the Fresh and Saltwater Systems unit. Projects ranged from awareness campaigns using brochures, videos and social media, to letters written to local government, and fundraisers. As part of their prize, students completed a workshop with bee researchers from the University of Calgary and built bee hotels to take home. The school was also given a composter donated by the City of Calgary, and all Grade 8 students received coupons from Fiasco Gelato. Congratulations on a job well done!

Upcoming Events

Further details will be shared in the Friday weekly emails.
