Support our group shave

It has been one week since our Shave Day at Elboya!  While donations are still rolling in with the media coverage from that day, our total raised for Kids Cancer Care is just short of our goal at 71,880!  We have received several emails and phone calls inquiring how to donate from across the country and as far away as Japan!

Weekly Update | April 21, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians

Quebec Trip
In order to facilitate moving forward with our planning for the Oct. 2017 Quebec trip it is regrettably necessary that we can no longer take any new applicants for the trip.

Wrestling will be beginning in May.  More news will be coming out shortly.  Badminton tournaments are happening and good luck to all participants.  The Grade 8s played last night and did a great job of competing.  We were proud of everyone’s efforts and sportsmanship.  The Grade 9 tournament is this Friday at Western and the Grade 7 tournament will be at Henry Wise Wood on Monday. Track & Field events continue to happen after school and at lunch.  If your son/daughter missed the first couple sessions, it is not a problem and they can show up to the next practice time.  The track team should be posted the first week of May.

Outdoor Ed 9
The Outdoor Ed class for the Grade 9’s will be going on a camp trip to Lower Kananaskis Lake and parents should see forms coming home soon.  The trip date is May 24th-26th and we are looking forward to the trip.  There will be a parent meeting on May 16th and May 18th for the parents of the students on the trip.  If there are any concerns or questions prior to the parent meeting or forms going home, please feel free to email

“Big Bad” Production
Thank you to all of the parents and family members who came to see our spring production of “Big Bad.” We greatly appreciate your support. Hope to see you next year! A reminder that cast members need to turn in their scripts to Ms. Grandan as soon as possible.

Shave Your Lid for a Kid

We have 73 students, 9 staff members and 2 parents participating in the Shave Your Lid Fundraiser. Participation includes shaving hair, cutting and donating ponytails and/or collecting donations!

As a group we have set a goal to raise $75,000, which is ambitious considering the current economy in Calgary. So far, Elboya has raised a total of $24,664 for Kids Cancer Care. Way to go Elboya! Shave Day Assemblies will be held in the Main Gym on Friday, April 21st!

Thank you very much to the staff, students and members of our community for helping the Kids Cancer Care provide opportunities to students and families impacted.
