Simon Fraser students have founded a project dedicated to impacting change in our world with the simplest of means- the penny. In two weeks, students have brought in $1500 in pennies alone. That amounts to more than 400 kilograms of copper. In total, Simon Fraser has raised more than $2500 in two weeks for the Red Cross of Canada.
Penny Project has a strong presence on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, and committee meetings have had attendance of more than 100 dedicated students. Well done, Simon Fraser! Grade 8 students, Brandon L. and Christopher T. won the contest to design our logo. Grade 9 student, Alex T. won the name competition. Please support us by getting your network of friends, co-workers, and family involved by bringing in their unused pennies or spare change! We will make a "change" in the world. Here is a link to the YouTube video that explains more about the impetus for this project:
Simon Fraser is preparing to give access to the Learner Accessable Wireless Network (LAWN) effective March 1, for students who have successfully completed the training required. To view our school's Acceptable Use Policy for LAWN access, please click on the link here.
