Important Dates Coming Soon:

Interim Report Cards go home on Wednesday, April 4th.

Parents can book Parent Student Teacher Conferences on Monday, April 2nd beginning at 7:00 AM; the link for the Conference Manager is:

A separate information letter for booking appointments will also be sent home in Report Card folders with instructions and this website link attached. You may also access this letter in pdf format by clicking on the link here.

Good Friday is this Friday, April 6th – no school for students.

PST Conferences begin on Monday, April 9th – no school for students.

Parent Student Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, April 9th from 9:00 –11:00 AM (Booked), 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM (Drop-in) and Tuesday, April 10th from 4:30 – 8:00 PM (Booked).

Our next School Council Meeting will be held on April 16th, at 7:00 PM in the school library.

Our school Decathlon will take place on Tuesday, April 24th, (weather permitting) at McMahon Stadium. Regular school bus students will be transported directly to the stadium in the morning and back to their usual drop off location in the afternoon. Permission forms for this event should be coming home soon with your student.

My World Conference 2012

Simon Fraser Students did an outstanding job, inviting other students from around Calgary to attend this conference on Leadership and Global Issues. The conference was held at Foothills Alliance Church in northwest Calgary on February 8th, 2012. Please click below to view this video:

Penny Project

Simon Fraser students have founded a project dedicated to impacting change in our world with the simplest of means- the penny. In two weeks, students have brought in $1500 in pennies alone. That amounts to more than 400 kilograms of copper.  In total, Simon Fraser has raised more than $2500 in two weeks for the Red Cross of Canada.  

Penny Project Penny Project has a strong presence on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, and committee meetings have had attendance of more than 100 dedicated students.  Well done, Simon Fraser!  Grade 8 students, Brandon L. and Christopher T. won the contest to design our logo. Grade 9 student, Alex T. won the name competition.  Please support us by getting your network of friends, co-workers, and family involved by bringing in their unused pennies or spare change!  We will make a "change" in the world.  Here is a link to the YouTube video that explains more about the impetus for this project:

Student Access to the L.A.W.N. begins March 1

Simon Fraser is preparing to give access to the Learner Accessable Wireless Network (LAWN) effective March 1, for students who have successfully completed the training required. To view our school's Acceptable Use Policy for LAWN access, please click on the link here.

My World Conference 3

We were delighted to welcome Craig Kielburger as our keynote speaker to My World Conference 3 in Calgary on February 16th, 2011.  MWC 3 is a student leadership conference for the Calgary Board of Education that was coordinated by Ms. B Schreiber and Mr. Johnston.  Craig Kielburger is the founder of the Free the Children and Me to We Foundations.  Please click on the image below to read a summary of the conference on the main CBE website.
