Principal's Message

Welcome to our Website.  Our Motto is “H. D. Cartwright is a Great Place to Learn Together.”  At H.D. Cartwright, we endeavor to work very closely with our students, parents and neighborhood to create a vibrant learning community.  

H.D. Cartwright provides an exceptional learning environment for students to achieve their academic best.  Teachers and Educational Teaching assistants develop strong bonds with each student. These relationships provide the foundation for the learning environment and allow the teachers to carefully assess student strengths and areas for growth.  Our teachers design programming based on the provincial curriculum outcomes but use their strong pedagogical skills to meet the needs of all learners.

In addition to our academic programs H.D. Cartwright has a strong selection of complementary programming such as Industrial Arts, Drama, Band, Art, Foods, Communications, Multi-media amongst others.  Our school offers a variety of Extra-Curricular programming. Our Physical Education department is dynamic and support students through a variety of activities such as volleyball, basketball, track, cross-country and many other events.  In addition to our intra-mural program we encourage students to participate in  creating an exceptional Year Book,  as well as taking part in clubs such as Spirit Club, Cheerleading, Games Club and other activities.

Parents are partners in supporting student success at school. Parents are welcomed to work closely with staff in supporting students to become strong and resilient youth. We appreciate the commitment of our parents as students make the journey through the junior high years and hope you will agree to volunteer in our building.
