West View School offers educational programs to students in the following locations:

West View School, Calgary Young Offender Center

The Calgary Board of Education is contracted by Alberta Justice to provide an educational program to youth in the Calgary Young Offenders Centre (CYOC). CYOC operates under the administration of the Correctional Services Division (Alberta Justice) and can accommodate approximately 155 youth ranging in age from 12 to 18. Residents, both male and female, come from various locations in the province and have been remanded or sentenced to secure custody by order of the Provincial Youth Court. This school operates on a year-round calendar.

ExCel Discovery Program

In partnership with the Solicitor General, Alberta Health Services and Enviros, the Calgary Board of Education provides the educational program to students residing in Excel Group Home. Excel provides a therapeutic and educational environment for youth serving an open custody sentence by order of the Provincial Youth Court. All group home staff, including one CBE teacher, work holistically with each youth to address educational and treatment goals to prepare the youth for their successful transition into the community.

Calgary Youth Attendance Centre

In contract and collaboration with the Solicitor General and the Calgary Young Offender Centre, two West View teachers provide the educational programming to students attending the Youth Attendance Centre. The youth who voluntarily attend school at CYAC are involved in the Youth Criminal Justice System. The program offers academic courses, life-skills curriculum (non-graded curriculum), work experience and community support services to high school students who have had limited success in traditional school settings and who are in need of a highly structured environment with a low teacher/pupil ratio.

Enviros Base Camp

West View School, in partnership with Alberta Health Services and Enviros, offers a treatment/school program for youth who are committed to addressing their addicitions. The program operates out of the Enviros Base Camp located in the Waiporous Creek forestry reserve. Two teachers, who reside at the camp, provide a comprehensive school program to the resident youth.

School Mission
