This week’s early dismissal day: Friday, Day 1
TRANSPORTATION DEADLINE EXTENSION
The pre-registration deadline for yellow school bus transportation has been extended until midnight on Sunday, June 11. All families planning to take the bus next year must pre-register. This includes students who qualify for free transportation and students requiring Complex Learning Needs transportation.
While pre-registrations are being accepted, fee payments (if applicable) are not required until October 2017. Families can cancel their transportation pre-registration by October 31, 2017 with no financial penalty.
Transportation pre-registrations can be completed using My CBE Account.

MIDSUN GYM CLOTHING ORDER EXTENSION
All MidSun students are expected to have a change of clothes, top and bottom, for Physical Education class. To facilitate this, MidSun has an online store where you can purchase MidSun Lakers Athletic wear for a reasonable price. The MidSun Online Store is once again open for gym strip purchases for the 17/18 school year.
Follow the new link https://midsungymsp2.itemorder.com/ to the online store to place your order. Youth Large and adult sizes are available for purchase.
On June 15th the MidSun P.E. Dept. will once again be hosting our Stampede Pancake Breakfast during Phys. Ed class. We would like thank Smitty’s Macleod for their continued support towards this annual event. This breakfast would not be possible without their donations of pancake batter and syrup for all MidSun students. As well, we would like to thank Coca-Cola for their donation of juice boxes for all students.
We are looking for any parent volunteers that may want to join us for the day to help flip pancakes. All volunteers must have a current security clearance with the CBE. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please contact Gina Kawata.
REPORT CARD PICK-UP
If your child will not be here to pick up their report card on June 29th, please drop off an 8.5x11 self-addressed stamped envelope to the office.

Message from Mr. Giffen, Principal
As you know, I have been away on a medical leave since October. My recovery from a head and neck injury has been slow and more time will be necessary to fully recover. I care deeply about doing what is best for the MidSun community and, as such, it saddens me to announce that I will no longer be the Principal of MidSun School. I will continue my recovery and begin the slow and deliberate process of gradually returning to a work environment. I plan to eventually return to the role of principal in the Calgary Board of Education, but the time frame for this is uncertain.
It has been a profound privilege to serve as Principal of MidSun School. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and want to thank all the staff, students and parents for their support. The process of selecting a new Principal will begin quickly and the MidSun community will have an opportunity to provide input into this selection.
Wishing you all the best in the future.
