Reminder about Bikes, Scooters & Skateboards

As the weather warms up and students start bringing bikes, scooters & skateboards to school, we would like to remind families that all of these items need to be locked to the racks out front. We do not have in-school storage for scooters or skateboards. Also, a reminder that anyone 18 years and younger is required by law to wear a helmet on any cycle propelled solely by human power on which a person may ride that has 2 wheels (Alberta Traffic Safety Act).

Next Year Planning

We are approaching the time of year when our staff begins planning for next year. We spend hours considering multiple variables when building our homerooms and do our best to ensure balanced classes. If you have a specific request for next year, please send it by e-mail, to Requests must be made no later than April 30th in order to be considered. We do our very best to accommodate all requests but are unable to make guarantees.

Moved or Moving?

Parents/Guardians, please inform the office as soon as possible if you know that your child(ren) will not be returning to MidSun in the fall. Having this information now is very helpful to us when planning for next year.

If you have moved or changed phone numbers over the course of this year please let us know. It is important we have current and accurate information for our students and their emergency contacts.

Calgary Transit Engagement

The City of Calgary is building new and improved Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes that will shape the way the broader transit network operates. As part of this project, Calgary Transit is reviewing dozens of existing bus routes to develop a more effective and efficient bus network in Calgary. This engagement will help Calgary Transit plan efficient bus routes that link to the new BRT routes. They would like to better understand community transit needs in the service areas so routes are efficient and get transit riders where they need to go. Wellness Day

We are very pleased to announce that MidSun will be hosting a “Wellness Day” on Friday May 25th of this year. The theme for the day will be “Courage to be ME“. We are looking for guest speakers to talk to two different groups of students for 2 separate 45 minute time periods. The sessions will run in the morning with a break in between. The topics of conversation could include anything to do with Wellness. Some examples of topics could include: sharing a career choice, stress management techniques such as: yoga, meditation, exercise, or the sharing of a hobby such as: music, art, cooking, etc. The organizing committee will keep the group sizes small and there would always be a teacher supervisor present during the session. If you have an interest in sharing your knowledge and expertise and are willing to volunteer your time with our students please contact Tammy Davey at via email.
