At Nelson Mandela High School, we are in the fortunate position to have received a Wellness grant from the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services. Our goals for our wellness work include building and establishing healthy relationships and mental wellness as an important part of the school's culture and raising awareness on mental health issues in the school and community through an extracurricular and cross -curricular setting. Our connect classes, extra -curricular groups such as Social Justice Committee and the GSA continually provide students and teachers the ability to discuss and integrate wellness and healthy relationships into our community here at school and beyond.

As a part of our continued commitment to build capacity on wellness, Wednesday, January 11, NMHS participated in their first Wellness Day Symposium involved over 40 community agencies. Students and staff assembled for a morning keynote before moving onto myriad wellness sessions on topics ranging from managing stress to goal setting for career. Because of this effort, NMHS has several community partnerships to support our students, families and NMHS staff for building capacity in wellness.
