Queen Elizabeth High School is located in the northwest community of Hillhurst, serving students grades 7-12 from the communities of Briar Hill/Hounsfield Heights, Hillhurst, West Hillhurst, Parkdale, Point McKay and St. Andrew's Heights, University Heights, MacEwan Glen, Sandstone Valley, Country Hills (South) and Sunnyside (optional).

Designated grade 6 feeder schools for the grade 7-9 program are Briar Hill, Hillhurst, Queen Elizabeth, University and Ranchlands Schools. Sunnyside is optional.

Designated grade 9 feeder schools for the grade 10-12 program are Queen Elizabeth High School and Simon Fraser.

About the School

The original school was built in 1910 and has undergone a series of additions and renovations to keep it up to date. Besides its academic classrooms and a comprehensive library, it has 2 gymnasiums, a fitness centre, an indoor climbing wall, 4 computer labs, dance studio, theatre, band room, woods shop, foods/fashion lab.

School Name

The school originally was named Bowview School but was renamed in honour of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

What Makes Us Unique

•Aside from the regular program of instruction offered grades 7-12, Queen Elizabeth - is a designated school for the CBE Gifted and Talented program (GATE) for students living in north Calgary and the CBE Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) program for grades 7-12

• We offer high school students Advanced Placement (AP) programs in all core subjects.

• We provide support for English as a Second Language students and International students.
