Freedom to Read
Celebrate Freedom to Read Week at Forest Lawn High (February 21-27)
Freedom to read can never be taken for granted. Even in Canada, a free country by world standards, books and magazines are banned at the border. Books are removed from the shelves in Canadian libraries, schools and bookstores every day. Free speech on the Internet is under attack. Few of these stories make headlines, but they affect the right of Canadians to decide for themselves what they choose to read.
Enter the library learning commons contest to celebrate Freedom to Read.
Write a poem, create a poster or photograph, video a dance or rap, or whatever creative medium you choose to celebrate Freedom to Read Week.
For more information check the link on the school and library web sites and book displays in the library learning commons.
Prizes include $30.00 gift certificates to Chapters/Indigo Bookstores.
Contest entry forms are in the library. Contest ends on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
Judging and announcement of winners will be made the following week.
