Western Canada High School gains an Interact Club! Interact members begin by volunteering weekly at the Providence Children’s Windsor Park School, caring for preschoolers suffering from disabilities.
The Club holds a school supply drive, collecting materials for children in Vietnam.
Interact coordinates Western’s annual Food Bank Drive, supporting the Interfaith Food Bank. WCHS donates a record number of food boxes: over 50, or 5,250+ pounds of food.

Interact hosts a Halloween pumpkin carving contest!
A campaign supporting CAWST (Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology) is held, raising money and awareness for people without access to clean water. Bathrooms around Western are temporarily shut down to emphasize how much we take water for granted.

The Club raises $1,000+ for Operation Eyesight by selling eyeball-cupcakes and running RIT basketball tournament concession stands. The money collected helps to establish sanitary eye treatment in developing countries.
Along with the fundraising, we also collect 60 pairs of glasses for Give the Gift of Sight Foundation.

Interact begins a campaign against child sex tourism: Philippine-made bracelets are sold, with money going back to the families that created them; sundaes take the Cafeteria by storm for Beyond Borders; and a movie is created to educate students.
Interact raises $1,000+ for Na’amat Canada’s program, School Supplies for Kids. The money buys school supplies for over 1,000 children and youth in domestic violence shelters, which Interact members help to pack into backpacks.

The Interact Club helps Na’amat Canada a second time, with bake sales, a pumpkin-carving contest, and a parking spot raffle. $2,500 is raised for School Supplies for Kids!
The Club runs the annual food drive again, challenging Western’s students to beat employees at Husky Energy for food-per-person donations. The school fills over 25 large boxes with food items and raises over $2,000 for the Interfaith Food Bank.

Interact supports War Child Canada with its Karaoke Idol contest and food sales. We raise $500, helping War Child to provide humanitarian assistance to war-affected children around the world.

Interact once more manages Western’s food drive… raising an unprecedented $5,000 and incorporating Cash for Cans into the fundraiser.
Interact participates in the Young Blood Challenge, an initiative from Canadian Blood Services to recruit young blood donors.
Karaoke Idol doubles its previous quantity of funds raised, generating $1,000 for ACET (African Children’s’ Educational Trust) and supporting the construction of schools in Ethiopia.

The Club holds a clothing drive benefitting CUPS (Calgary Urban Project Society) and generating over 1,400 items of clothing for Calgary’s homeless.
Current project: Candygrams! Buy a sweet surprise for that special someone!
Watch for:  Karaoke Idol in April and ice cream floats in May!
