GEOGRAPHY OF CANADA 20 (3 credits)

What is geography?  Geography is the study of people and places and how people have shaped their natural environments.  Just like history focuses on chronology, geography concentrates on space and place.  Not only do we focus on where things are located but more importantly we focus on why things are where they are.  This approach is guided by a spatial perspective. In this particular course, we focus on both physical and human geography of our varied land.  Physical geography will focus on landforms, climate, vegetation and soils.  The human geography aspect will focus on population and settlement, urbanization and human economics. There will be two field seminars where students will assess the spatial patterns of unique neighbourhoods.
