Grade 12 Grads – The grad list is posted outside of Student Services with ID numbers. These are students who will be walking the stage at the Grad Ceremony. Please ensure your name is on this list. If your name is missing, please see your School Counsellor asap to discuss.

Volunteer Opportunity - Any student looking for a regular volunteer activity, Carya and the Bowmont Families Together program host an event called Dinner & a Movie on the third Friday of every month in partnership with Maranatha Church. They are looking for regular volunteers to help host this event. If you are interested in volunteering, please come to Student Services for contact information.

Scholarships for All Students
Heartstone Foundation Bursary - Deadline: May 1 - $5500 annually for 4 years! For Grade 12 students in financial need with a commitment to their education. Go to the Calgary Foundation website.

The deadline for EducationMatters Scholarships is Tuesday, May 1 that include:
For Grade 12s:        Bowness Green and Gold Scholarships ($1000 each)
Malwyn Jones Memorial Award ($2000 each)
Bowness Historical Society Student Award ($500) - write a 500 word essay about the history of the Bowness community
For Grade 10s and 11s:  Steven Irving Scholarship (Music student $750 each)
For Grade. 10s:  M. Cecil Brownlee Bursary (up to $500) (65% average, financial need)

These are our school awards, but there are over 50 system-wide awards as well. Check the EducationMatters website and apply today! See Ms. Berry or Ms. Lee for more information in Student Services!

WORK EXPERIENCE

 

REPEATED MESSAGES

On June 27 we are holding our awards evening. This evening is now called Pride and Excellence Awards and we will be celebrating Honour Society, Academic Achievement Awards which is a new award that recognizes the top mark in every course in each grade, and Bowness specific Scholarships. Students must apply for Honour Society and Lifetime Honour Society by June 1. Invitations will come via email late in June, once we have determined your eligibility.

Imperial Oil Scholarships - Grade 12s, the next major scholarship to apply for is the Imperial Oil Scholarship before Monday, May 15. These are for Bowness HS students who are attending a post-secondary institution to study Math, Science, Environment or Trades programs (including business) the year following graduation. Each scholarship is valued at $2,000. Applications can be picked up from Student Services.

CLUBS

GSA - The Gay Straight Alliance meets on Fridays during lunch in room 209. Everyone is welcome to attend!
RAK – Wednesdays in room 216.
Robotics – Meets on Tuesday in room 2203.
Student Council – Mondays at lunch in room 219.
Yearbook – Meets every Tuesday at lunch in room 121.
