Music Department Information

The first Music event of the year will be our Annual Preview Concert on September 29, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the Bowness High School Theatre. There will be performances by various ensembles. We will also be holding the Annual General Meeting for the Bowness High School Music Parents’ Association at the same time. The Association raises money to support the Music Program and they own the instruments that are rented to our students. In order for their excellent work to continue we are looking for a few parents to volunteer to sit on the Music Parents Association Executive Committee. The time commitment is for about 6 meetings over the course of the year and most meetings are under 30 minutes long. At this point we are looking for a few new members. We are also looking for parents who are willing to help organize the Big Band Dinner and Dance which occurs on March 11, 2016. This event is our major fundraising activity for the year.

Other concert dates include October 27, December 8 and June 9. There will also be several opportunities for the students to perform at community venues throughout the year as well as participate in a trip in April 2016. Concert attire is black DRESS pants/skirt, black DRESS shoes and socks and a Music Department shirt. The shirts will be ordered in September for those students who do not have one.

We would like to thank the families of the music students for their support of the Music Program last year and we are looking forward to another excellent year in 2015-2016.
